How Do I...

get referred to and receive notice of tax mediation?
Tax cases are referred to mediation at the first hearing for residential and commercial property cases. Mediation is scheduled at least ninety days from the date of the first hearing. Notice is mailed to the parties (or their attorneys if they are represented).

ensure that I am prepared for my upcoming mediation session?
All parties participating in mediation must submit a Confidential Settlement Statement (CSS) and/or Settlement Offer form to the court’s mediation office (the Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division) and the DC Office of Attorney General at least 60 days before the mediation takes place.

Location of sessions and timing:
Tax mediation sessions are held on Wednesdays between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm in the Superior Court’s Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division, which is located in Court Building C, 410 E Street, NW. Tax mediation sessions are scheduled for 45 minutes per case, though it can take less time. Follow-up sessions may be scheduled as necessary.
